The Ama Chair is a delicate balance of opposing forces. The chair’s joinery pushes and pulls—with, and against—to create moments of stillness. My Ama, Chin Yin Wu, was an artist, a mother, a daughter, and a sister. Kind but stern, delicate but tough, thoughtful but clumsy, serious but funny; she was the person who taught me to love through acts. This chair is one interpretation of my Ama, with many more to come.
